Roadside Rescue: Hutch Top

Recently I was out walking Mu Shu and spied this hutch top next to the curb:

It had these little notches--I suppose for displaying spoons?

And it had nice details on the sides:

As well as a cute, swooped front edge on each shelf:

I made mental note to pick it up at the end of our walk and take it to Goodwill.

Five minutes later, I encountered a woman piling a great deal of furniture on top of her car and lashing it down with ropes. It turns out she was helping her daughter move out of her apartment to a new place down the road. Many of the pieces she was securing in place were cute, vintage, painted, or all three.

So I told her about the hutch I'd just seen: would her daughter like it?

Turned out, she loved it! She lashed it on top of the teetering pile of furniture already on her car and drove away.

Very, very slowly.
